The story so far

My running journey

I'm Josh, a recreational runner from King's Lynn in Norfolk. I love the challenge of running, the people I meet and the opportunities it creates to get involved in my community.

My first official race was the Milton Keynes Half Marathon in March 2011. After that, I spent years away from organised racing before returning at GEAR in 2024.

Along the way I've lost more than five stone, built up my confidence, and discovered that running can be about far more than finishing times.

These days I run, volunteer, make videos and visit local running clubs to meet the people who make running accessible. I'm especially interested in the clubs and communities around King's Lynn and West Norfolk.

Through my videos and club visits, I share the atmosphere, the people and the stories behind local running, and hope to encourage others to get involved.

I'm registered with England Athletics and belong to Ryston Runners and Milton Keynes Redway Runners.

Discovering the local running community

One of my projects is to visit running clubs across King's Lynn and the surrounding area, join in with a session and share what the experience is really like.

Club visits

Turning up and joining in

From social runs to interval sessions, I'm meeting runners of different abilities and finding out what makes each group special.

Stories & interviews

The people behind the miles

My videos and interviews are about local runners, organisers, volunteers, fundraising and the stories worth hearing.

Belonging

Room for every pace

Running communities bring people together across different ages, backgrounds and abilities. That's something worth celebrating.

Part of a running club or organising an event?

I'd love to hear about it. I'm always interested in meeting people and highlighting the work going on in local running.

More than race day

Running is a family thing

My wife Emily runs too, and our children, Ivy and Jack, are part of the adventure. Whether it's a race weekend, junior parkrun or a family challenge, running gives us something to share.

At the 2025 Milton Keynes MoRun, Emily and I took on the 10K while Ivy and Jack joined the shorter children's event. My mum and sister were there taking part too.

We all took part in the Galley Hill Dash in September 2026, pairing up for the hill challenge and coming away with wooden medals.

Junior parkrun volunteering is another important part of our weekends. Supporting young runners, cheering them on and helping events happen is every bit as meaningful as collecting another medal.

The next big challenge

London Marathon 2027

On 25 April 2027, I'll be taking on the London Marathon after securing a place through the ballot.

Emily will be running it too, raising money for Rays of Sunshine through her charity place. It's a huge challenge for both of us, and we'll be sharing the training, setbacks and milestones along the way.

For me, it's about putting in the training, embracing the experience and sharing the journey from King's Lynn to the start line in London.
